The work

Out in the community you are often the only clinician in the room. On a round of home visits you might be dressing a leg ulcer, managing a catheter, giving insulin or supporting someone with a long-term condition to stay well and independent at home. You assess, plan and make the calls yourself, then pick up the phone to the GP or the wider team when a patient needs more. It is nursing built on judgement, relationships and trust.

Getting started
What you’ll need
Your NMC registration
A current NMC PIN as a registered nurse, in good standing, with your compliance up to date.
Community experience and a car
Recent community, district or practice nursing experience, plus a full driving licence and access to a car for home visits.

Autonomous, organised and warm. The best community nurses make sound decisions alone and put patients at ease in their own homes.
