Nursing in Lincolnshire
Lincolnshire runs from Stamford in the south to the Humber bank in the north, so travel here is real. We try to make the work close to home, clear on pay and simple to pick up.
Lincolnshire is one of the largest counties in England and travel is real here, so we match you to work that makes sense from where you live. That might be the acute wards in Lincoln or Boston, a nursing home in Spalding or Sleaford, or shifts up in Grimsby and Scunthorpe rather than a two-hour drive across the county.
You see the rate for every shift before you accept it, with no guessing and no haggling. The figure in the app is the figure you are booking. We keep payroll straightforward so the money lands when it should.
One friendly onboarding, then we keep your NMC registration, mandatory training and DBS in order in the background. When something is due to expire we tell you early, so a lapsed check never costs you a shift.
The county we cover
Lincolnshire is served by three main NHS trusts and a large independent and care sector. Here is the real picture of where nurses work.
Most acute nursing in the county sits with United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Lincoln County Hospital, Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, Grantham and District Hospital, County Hospital Louth and Skegness and District Hospital. The 24-hour A&E departments are at Lincoln and at Pilgrim in Boston, while Grantham’s former A&E now runs as a 24/7 urgent treatment centre. In the north of ceremonial Lincolnshire, Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust runs the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby and Scunthorpe General Hospital, now working alongside Hull University Teaching Hospitals as part of the NHS Humber Health Partnership. It is worth being honest that there is no major trauma centre inside the county: the most seriously injured patients are taken out to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for the East Midlands, or to Hull Royal Infirmary from the north, so the local hospitals are busy district generals rather than tertiary centres.
Mental health and learning disability care is provided by Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, whose inpatient units include the Peter Hodgkinson Centre with its Ellis and Castle wards on the Lincoln County Hospital site, the Hartsholme Centre psychiatric intensive care unit in Lincoln, Ash Villa near Sleaford, older people’s wards at Witham Court, and Havenside at Norton Lea in Boston. Community and district nursing across the county is run largely by Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust. Three prisons sit within the county, creating a steady need for healthcare staff: HMP Lincoln, a Category B local prison in the city, HMP North Sea Camp, a Category D open prison near Boston, and HMP Morton Hall at Swinderby near Lincoln. On the independent side, Lincoln Private Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, works in the city, and the charitable HMT St Hugh’s Hospital serves the Grimsby area.

Specialisms in Lincolnshire
From the acute wards at Lincoln and Boston to coastal care homes and the county’s three prisons, wherever your skills sit there is real local demand.
Lincolnshire has one of the oldest populations in England. The county’s Older People’s Five Year Strategy (2023 to 2028) identified 106,178 residents aged 65 and over who meet frailty criteria, and the over-65 share of the population is forecast to keep rising through the 2030s. There are roughly 286 CQC-registered care homes in the county, with something like 8,800 beds between them (2025). That means steady nursing-home and residential work in towns like Spalding, Bourne, Horncastle and along the coast at Skegness and Mablethorpe.

Mental health shifts are largely with Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. Named units include the Peter Hodgkinson Centre and the Hartsholme Centre psychiatric intensive care unit in Lincoln, Ash Villa near Sleaford, the older people’s wards at Witham Court, and Havenside at Norton Lea in Boston. We book RMNs for acute, PICU, rehabilitation and older-people’s dementia settings.

Lincolnshire has a genuine prison estate. HMP Lincoln is a Category B local prison in the city, HMP North Sea Camp is a Category D open prison near Boston, and HMP Morton Hall sits at Swinderby near Lincoln. Just over the border are HMP Stocken in Rutland and HMP Whatton in Nottinghamshire. Prison healthcare needs experienced nurses comfortable working with limited on-site backup, and we brief you fully before a first shift.

Being straight about this matters: Lincolnshire has no major trauma centre of its own, so the sickest patients are transferred to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham or, from the north, to Hull Royal Infirmary. That said, critical care and ITU work does happen locally at Lincoln County Hospital and Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, and at the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole units in Grimsby and Scunthorpe. We match ITU and HDU-experienced nurses to these departments.

Theatre and recovery work runs across the NHS sites at Lincoln, Boston and Grantham and up in Grimsby and Scunthorpe, alongside the independent sector. Lincoln Private Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, the Ramsay-run Boston West Hospital day-case unit, and the charitable 32-bed HMT St Hugh’s Hospital in Grimsby, which covers orthopaedic, general and ophthalmic surgery, all take scrub, anaesthetic and recovery staff.

Care & support work in Lincolnshire
Most care in Lincolnshire is delivered by care assistants and support workers rather than registered nurses. The county has one of the oldest populations in England, with around 286 CQC-registered care homes and close to 8,800 beds, and Lincolnshire County Council commissions social care across a huge, spread-out area from the North Sea coast to the southern market towns. Whatever your background, there is regular work near you.
In East Lindsey — the coastal district taking in Skegness, Louth and Mablethorpe — 30.6% of residents were aged 65 or over at the 2021 Census, one of the highest shares of any district in England. Care homes cluster along that coast and in market towns such as Spalding, Bourne and Horncastle, part of roughly 286 CQC-registered homes across the county. Care assistants are the backbone of these homes, supporting residents with everyday living, personal care and companionship.

In Lincolnshire, health support for adults with a learning disability is led by Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, working alongside council-commissioned social care, and local policy is steadily moving people out of residential care and into supported living. That means growing demand for support workers who help the people they support live as independently as possible — in their own homes and out in the community rather than in a care-home setting.

Around 9,000 people in Lincolnshire have a recorded dementia diagnosis, and the number of older people with the condition is projected to rise above 15,000 by 2030 as the county’s older population keeps growing. The local diagnosis rate reached 69.7% by the end of 2025, above the national standard, with East Lindsey carrying the largest number of cases. Dementia care is some of the most valued work in the sector, supporting residents to live well day to day.

Lincolnshire has a real neuro-rehabilitation cluster centred on Lincoln: The Laurels, a 12-bed specialist neurological rehabilitation centre on Sheridan Close run by Active Care Group, sits alongside Ashby Ward at Lincoln County Hospital and its 18 rehabilitation-medicine beds, while Headway Lincolnshire runs brain-injury support groups across the county. Rehabilitation support workers here help the people they support rebuild skills and independence after a brain or spinal injury, work closely related to the complex-care roles that involve tracheostomy and other clinical support.

No, and we would rather be honest about it. The county's hospitals are busy district generals, and the most seriously injured patients are taken out to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham or, from the north of the county, to Hull Royal Infirmary. Critical care and ITU work does still happen locally at Lincoln, Boston and the Grimsby and Scunthorpe units.
A real mix. Acute hospital wards and theatres, a large nursing-home and community sector driven by one of the oldest populations in England, inpatient mental health work with Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and prison healthcare at HMP Lincoln, North Sea Camp and Morton Hall. Whatever your specialism, there is usually local demand.
You see the confirmed rate for every shift before you accept it, so there are no surprises. Once you have worked, our payroll is straightforward and reliable, so the money arrives when it should. No haggling, no chasing.
