Nursing in Yorkshire
Work that fits around your life, with none of the usual agency runaround.
Yorkshire is a big region, and you should not have to drive across it for a single shift. Whether you are in Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford, Hull, York or the towns in between, the app shows what is available nearby, so you pick the work that suits where you live.
Every shift shows its rate up front. You see exactly what you will earn before you accept, and you are paid promptly with no chasing timesheets or waiting weeks to find out where you stand.
We handle your DBS, mandatory training and revalidation checks properly, so you can move between an NHS ward in Leeds, a care home in York, a Sheffield theatre list or a secure unit near Wakefield without repeating the same paperwork for every placement.
The area we cover
Yorkshire and the Humber is home to around 5.59 million people (ONS, mid-2023), and hospitals, mental health services and care homes right across the region lean on flexible nursing staff.
Acute care across Yorkshire is anchored by some of the largest teaching trusts in the country. In West Yorkshire, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust runs Leeds General Infirmary and St James’s University Hospital, one of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe. In South Yorkshire, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the biggest trusts in the country, running the Northern General, the Royal Hallamshire and Weston Park Cancer Centre, alongside Sheffield Children’s, Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster and Bassetlaw. Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust anchors East Yorkshire from Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital, while in North Yorkshire, York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust cover the wider county. Bradford Teaching Hospitals, Calderdale and Huddersfield, Mid Yorkshire in Wakefield and Airedale near Keighley complete the West Yorkshire picture.
Mental health, community and secure care are spread across a wide set of trusts. Leeds and York Partnership, Bradford District Care and South West Yorkshire Partnership cover West Yorkshire, the last running Newton Lodge, the Yorkshire Centre for Forensic Psychiatry, at Fieldhead in Wakefield. Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust and Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber cover South Yorkshire, Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys covers North Yorkshire and York, and Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust serves Hull and the East Riding. Yorkshire also carries one of the larger prison estates in the country, from the Category A HMP Wakefield to HMP Leeds, the Doncaster cluster of Moorland, Lindholme and Hatfield, HMP Hull and HMP Humber. Independent hospitals including Spire, Nuffield Health, Thornbury in Sheffield and the Yorkshire Clinic near Bingley run full surgical lists across the region.

Nursing and residential homes across all four counties rely on regular agency cover, from Leeds, Bradford and Sheffield to York, Harrogate, Scarborough and the East Riding, and we place carers and nurses for community and district rounds too.

Our Yorkshire coverage spans four counties, West, South, North and East Yorkshire, taking in Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford, Hull, York, Wakefield, Doncaster, Rotherham, Barnsley, Huddersfield, Halifax, Harrogate and Scarborough.

Specialisms in Yorkshire
Whatever your ward or setting, there is regular work here.
Yorkshire’s care sector is large and under real pressure. In 2023/24 the Yorkshire and the Humber adult social care sector ran around 3,800 CQC-registered care-providing locations with roughly 176,000 posts and staff turnover above 25 per cent (Skills for Care). There were around 2,700 registered residential care home beds for every 100,000 people aged 65 and over as at April 2024, and regional nursing home places have fallen since 2014 even as the older population keeps growing. That leaves homes across all four counties needing steady, reliable agency cover, and it is some of the most consistent work we offer.

Mental health work spans a broad set of trusts here. Leeds and York Partnership, Bradford District Care and South West Yorkshire Partnership cover West Yorkshire, Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust and Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber cover South Yorkshire, Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys covers North Yorkshire and York, and Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust serves Hull and the East Riding. We place mental health nurses and support workers into inpatient wards, community teams, learning disability services and secure and forensic units right across the region.

Yorkshire holds one of the larger prison estates in the country. West Yorkshire has the high-security Category A HMP Wakefield along with HMP Leeds, HMP New Hall and HMP Wealstun; South Yorkshire has the Doncaster cluster of HMP Doncaster, Moorland, Lindholme and Hatfield; North Yorkshire has the women’s open prison Askham Grange near York; and East Yorkshire has HMP Hull and HMP Humber. Prison healthcare is nurse-led and always short of hands, and it is some of the most rewarding work going for nurses who want something different from a ward.

Yorkshire is covered by three adult Major Trauma Centres, one in each of three counties: the Leeds Major Trauma Centre at Leeds General Infirmary in West Yorkshire, the adult centre at the Northern General in Sheffield in South Yorkshire, and the Hull Major Trauma Centre at Hull Royal Infirmary in East Yorkshire, the hub of the North Yorkshire and Humberside Major Trauma Network. Sheffield Children’s Hospital is the region’s paediatric Major Trauma Centre. North Yorkshire has no centre of its own, so its most serious cases travel to Leeds or out to James Cook in Middlesbrough. We place experienced ITU and HDU nurses where the pressure is highest.

Theatre work runs across both sectors. The region’s NHS trusts run busy theatre lists between them, and independent hospitals including Spire and Nuffield Health in Leeds, Thornbury and Spire Claremont in Sheffield, the Yorkshire Clinic near Bingley, Clifton Park and Nuffield Health in York and Spire Hull and East Riding all run full surgical lists. We place scrub, anaesthetic and recovery nurses across elective and emergency work.

Care & support work in Yorkshire
Most care across Yorkshire is delivered by care assistants and support workers rather than registered nurses. Yorkshire and the Humber runs around 3,800 CQC-registered care services with roughly 176,000 posts, and the work spans elderly care homes on the coast, supported living in the cities and specialist neuro-rehabilitation. Whatever your background, there is regular work near you.
Yorkshire’s older population is heavily concentrated along the coast and out in the countryside: in the East Riding of Yorkshire around 26% of residents are aged 65 or over — well above the England average — and the council expects that to reach roughly a third of the population by 2041. Older people’s homes across the region lean on close to 2,700 residential care-home beds for every 100,000 people aged 65 and over. Care assistants are the backbone of these homes, supporting residents with everyday living, personal care and companionship.

Alongside its care homes, Yorkshire has a large learning-disability and supported-living sector, and councils such as Leeds are actively moving people out of hospital and long-stay learning-disability services into community homes closer to their families. That means steady demand for support workers who help the people they support live as independently as possible — in supported-living houses and out in the community, rather than in a care-home setting.

More than 20,000 people are living with a recorded dementia diagnosis in West Yorkshire alone, with several thousand more across South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and the Humber as the region’s older population keeps growing. Dementia care is some of the most valued work in the sector, supporting residents to live well day to day.

Yorkshire has a genuine specialist neuro presence — the 14-bed Goole Neuro-Rehabilitation Centre in the East Riding, run by the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (part of The Disabilities Trust) in partnership with the local NHS, takes adults rebuilding their lives after an acquired brain injury or neurological illness. Rehabilitation support workers here help the people they support relearn everyday skills and independence, work closely related to the complex-care roles that involve tracheostomy and other clinical support.
